9th March 2024 | Birthday Tour

Destination wasn’t pre-determined as no one had anticipated the busyness of the weekend with Cheltenham races in full swing. Originally we had wanted to check out the culinary delights at WoodKraft but, alas, it wasn’t meant to be. Instead we headed for Flight Club, situated in the Brewery Quarter. A popular spot in Cheltenham for bars and restaurants, the Brewery Quarter has many options to choose from. As it was HT’s birthday and she has been known to throw a dart or 2, we headed for the aptly named Flight Club to check out the food and drinks on offer. We had a guest with us so 4 for lunch today and we weren’t disappointed. As you enter you’re greeted by a server who allows you to choose your table of choice. There is an eclectic style interior with bold patterned wallpaper, mismatch lampshades, a carousel horse, bright lights and booths with stools. Music was lively and set the atmosphere for a fun experience.

Started with drinks of coffee for LC (nice and smooth), HT had a Spring Passion non-alcoholic cocktail (refreshing) and RS stuck with a lemonade (standard). For lunch today, HT and LC decided to share chicken skewers, Yorkshire puds, chicken bites and bao buns as inspired by the sharing plates for 4 but decided it was probably best to stick at for 2 sized meal. Both agreed that the bao buns were their least favourite as they needed more sauce with the Yorkshire pudding being the best out of the selection. Both left one til last and toasted it before eating. RS had the vegan bao buns with the sharing chips and cheese sauce. Wasn’t expecting cheese sauce to be like this, so rich, thick and orange! Relieved she didn’t add the bread to the mix otherwise it would have been carb overload. The team at Flight Club were so friendly and were kind enough to bring HT a brownie with a candle in as they knew it was her birthday. It’s always the little touches.

To satisfy our need for something sweet to follow, we headed over to Guilt Trip for what has started to become our customary food tour doughnut. RS and HT decided on a Maple Crunch, HT pairing hers with a hot chocolate whilst LC had an Espresso topped doughnut with another coffee (had enough coffee girl?). Without fail, always delicious, always soft in the middle with a crispy shell and just the right amount of toppings to not overwhelm with sugar. The rest of the afternoon was spent wandering around the street market, popping in and out of shops. Short and sweet this one but no less full of tasty delights.

Happy Birthday HT, we hope you had a great day with the Good Food Gang
